Budapest – Capital of CultureMy name is María Elena, I was born and raised in Montevideo. When I was 19 years old I received a scholarship and came to Budapest to study. I earned my diploma at the viola teacher faculty of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, later also earned viola performer diploma at the music art faculty of the Debrecen University. Later I completed the literature translator training course at the Balassi Institute, simultaneously I started to teach Spanish language. Currently, I attend the Szeged University correspondence course, taking the faculty of Romanistics and Spanish. I teach Spanish at different languages schools in Budapest, I play viola in several symphonic and chamber orchestras on a monthly basis. In my free time I translate contemporary Hungarian literature into Spanish (several poetry books I translated were already published) and do aerobics.
