I’ve always had a soft spot for rooftop bars. Maybe it’s the views. Maybe it’s the feeling of being above the city’s busy streets for a little while. Or maybe it’s simply because Budapest looks even more beautiful from above.
Although several spectacular rooftop bars have opened over the years, 360 Bar has remained one of my favorites ever since it first welcomed guests. Located on top of the historic Paris Department Store on Andrássy Avenue, it offers one of the best panoramic views in Budapest right in the heart of the city.
From here, you can admire landmarks like St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Hungarian Parliament, Buda Castle and the Citadel while sipping a cocktail, a glass of Hungarian wine or, in my case, usually an ice-cold homemade lemonade.
And here’s a little tip: if you’re on a first date and the conversation suddenly runs out of steam, don’t panic. There are so many famous landmarks to admire that you’ll always have something to point at.

The View & Atmosphere
One of the things I love most about 360 Bar is that it doesn’t just offer amazing views, it has a personality of its own.
The spacious rooftop feels relaxed and welcoming, with colorful seating, plenty of greenery and an atmosphere that somehow reminds me of a beach bar in the South of France. It’s hard to believe you’re actually sitting above one of Budapest’s busiest avenues.
Whichever direction you look, there’s something worth admiring. St. Stephen’s Basilica rises above the rooftops, the Hungarian Parliament and Buda Castle are easy to spot in the distance, and on a clear day you can even see the Citadel watching over the city. If you enjoy photography as much as I do, don’t forget your camera because the views are spectacular, especially around sunset.
One thing I particularly like is that the rooftop feels surprisingly relaxed. There’s no strict dress code, so you can just as easily stop by after a day of sightseeing in sneakers as you can for a special evening out.
And if you’re visiting Budapest during the colder months, don’t cross 360 Bar off your list. Every winter, the rooftop transforms with its famous heated igloos, allowing you to enjoy the panoramic views wrapped up in blankets with a warm drink in hand. It’s one of the coziest winter experiences in the city.

Food & Drinks
Of course, the view is the main attraction, but it’s well worth staying for a drink or a bite to eat.
The cocktail menu features both classic favorites and creative signature drinks, while the wine list includes an excellent selection of Hungarian wines. If you’re not in the mood for alcohol, the homemade lemonades are just as tempting, especially on a hot summer afternoon. (I usually end up ordering one.)
Over the years, the food menu has become much more ambitious, too. Today you’ll find Mediterranean-inspired dishes, light rooftop bites and sharing plates that are perfect for a relaxed evening with friends while watching the sun set over Budapest.
The atmosphere becomes even livelier later in the evening, when live DJs often take over and the rooftop slowly transforms from a laid-back terrace into one of the city’s most popular nightlife spots.
Whether you stop by for a quick drink or spend the entire evening here, it’s easy to see why 360 Bar has remained one of Budapest’s rooftop favorites for so many years.
If you ask me, the best time to visit is about an hour before sunset. Watching Budapest slowly change from daylight to golden hour and finally to a sea of sparkling lights is part of the experience.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a date night or simply looking for one of the best panoramic views in Budapest, 360 Bar is always a great choice.
I’ve visited several times over the years, and it’s one of those places I keep coming back to. Some places are worth visiting once. Others become part of your Budapest tradition.
For me, 360 Bar definitely belongs in the second category.

360 Bar may be one of my personal favorites, but it’s far from the only place where you can enjoy Budapest from above.
