Budapest Christmas Fair – Vörösmarty Classic Xmas – November 13, 2026 – December 31, 2026

If you want to experience Budapest in its most festive mood, the Vörösmarty Square Christmas Fair is a must during the Advent season. Right in the heart of the city, the square fills with Christmas lights, handmade Hungarian crafts, festive food, drinks and a lively holiday atmosphere. If you are planning a winter city break, it is an easy addition to your Budapest itinerary, especially if you want to combine sightseeing with a little Christmas shopping and some traditional Hungarian treats.

The Vörösmarty Classic Xmas is held every year on Vörösmarty Square, at the northern end of Váci Street. Browse the stalls for handmade Hungarian gifts, warm up with a cup of mulled wine, or simply take a break from exploring the city and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

What can you find at the Christmas Fair?

The craft section is one of the highlights of the market, with Hungarian makers offering handmade decorations, ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, textiles, toys and other gift ideas. The current exhibitor list includes a wide variety of traditional and contemporary handmade products, so this is a good place to look for something a little different from the usual souvenir-shop selection.

Of course, food is an important part of the experience too. You can expect hearty Hungarian dishes, grilled specialties, sausages, stews and other festive market food, as well as traditional sweets and winter drinks.

And if you are visiting with children, don’t miss the little railway running around the square. It is free to use and is one of the fair’s family-friendly attractions.
