Orchid & Bromeliad Exhibition in Budapest – October 14-18, 2026

Orchid Exhibition in Budapest

If you love orchids, tropical plants, or simply enjoy being surrounded by beautiful flowers, the Orchid and Bromeliad Exhibition at Vajdahunyad Castle is a lovely Budapest event to put on your autumn calendar.

Held twice a year, the exhibition brings together orchid growers, collectors, exhibitors, and specialist plant sellers in the beautiful surroundings of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum at Vajdahunyad Castle. Visitors can admire a wide variety of orchids and bromeliads, learn more about these fascinating plants, and, of course, take some of them home.

The autumn edition of the exhibition is particularly special in 2026, as the Hungarian Orchid Society celebrates its 50th anniversary. The anniversary will be reflected in the exhibition, which will feature special plants, rare orchids, professional presentations, surprises, and other programs celebrating five decades of enthusiasm for the world of orchids.

The exhibition is designed for both experienced collectors and people who simply like orchids but perhaps haven’t yet managed to keep one alive for more than three months. No judgment here. There will be plenty to admire, as well as opportunities to learn more about caring for orchids and other tropical plants.

One of the highlights is the selection of plants brought together by specialist growers and exhibitors. You can admire unusual and rare varieties, talk to people who really know their orchids, and browse plants and accessories available to purchase. The exhibition also features professional presentations and demonstrations, with the exact program announced by the organizers.

The setting is another reason to visit. Vajdahunyad Castle in City Park is one of Budapest’s most picturesque locations, and the combination of the historic building, the exhibition spaces, and hundreds of exotic-looking plants makes for a rather beautiful autumn outing.

2026 Orchid and Bromeliad Exhibition

The special anniversary edition takes place over five days, from October 14-18, 2026, with extended opening hours from 9 AM to 6 PM. The ticket office closes at 5:30 PM, while the museum’s permanent exhibitions are open only until 5 PM.

To make the visit more comfortable, the organizers are introducing timed entry for the autumn exhibition. When buying your ticket online, you can choose between a 9 AM-1 PM or 1 PM-6 PM arrival window. The number of tickets available for each day is also limited.

Ticket prices vary depending on the day, with lower prices on Wednesday and Thursday and higher prices from Friday to Sunday. Family and discounted tickets are also available.

And there is a nice little bonus for plant lovers: the value of certain exhibition tickets can be used as a voucher at participating Oázis and Marczika garden centres between October 14 and November 15, subject to the organizers’ conditions.

Whether you already have a collection of orchids at home or you’re simply looking for something beautiful and a little different to do in Budapest, the exhibition is well worth a visit. Just be warned: you may leave with a new plant. Or two.
