The Most Instagrammable Spots in Budapest

Budapest didn’t get the names “Queen of Danube” or “Paris of the East” by accident. This incredibly cool destination is an Instagrammer’s dream city with its gorgeous views, beautiful architecture, its mix of eclectic restaurants, glam shopping districts and buzzing nightlife.

The main attractions would definitely be Fisherman’s Bastion, Chain Bridge, the Parliament Building, Buda Castle, Matthias Church and the Citadel, but there are a lot more! I would like to share my list of the most Instagrammable spots in Budapest with you. Even when you don’t have an Instagram account, these spots are great for shooting perfect travel photos.

Fisherman’s Bastion

Fisherman’s Bastion is one of the most popular tourist attractions. Local legend states that the Bastion takes its name from the guild of fishermen in charge of defending this stretch of the city walls, and the old fish market also sat at this location during medieval times. The Bastion looks like it’s taken straight from a fairytale book. Not only is the bastion Instagram worthy, the panoramic views from the bastion aren’t that bad, either.

Chain Bridge

No doubt, Chain Bridge, the iconic symbol of Budapest, is the most beautiful bridge in Europe! It is stunning during the day but even more amazing at night as it lights up to illuminate the city. On Tuesdays last summer La Movida, the best Cuban band in Hungary, played live music in the hottest summer resort called RaqPart at the foot of Chain Bridge. I could take cool pics of the band with Chain Bridge in the background. There are many spots on and around Chain Bridge from which you can capture its beauty. Why not find yours. 🙂

Hungarian Parliament Building

The Hungarian Parliament Building is the most iconic building in Budapest. This beautiful building is visible from almost every point of the Danube as it is located directly on the bank of the river on the Pest side. It looks stunning from every angle. I think it is definitely one of the most Instagrammable spots in Budapest, if not all of Hungary! Being one of the most popular tourist destinations, it is a sight you can’t miss when you are in Budapest.

Paris Courtyard

Paris Courtyard is not simply one of the hidden gems in Budapest, but had been a sleeping beauty under its shabby walls and her gorgeous ornamentation for a long time. Its eclectic style combines Art Nouveau, Moorish Revival and Gothic forms and motifs. After years of renovation, this ornate arcade has been converted into a contemporary hotel. A new rooftop suite provides fresh views of the city beyond and the building’s intricate, highly decorative rooftop structures.

Twentysix Budapest

Twentysix Budapest is the first of its kind, a cozy urban jungle and feel-good hub for all the nature and gastro friends located in the real heart of Budapest. The telling name Twentysix represents two essential facts about the place – it reflects the perfect temperature for the local plants, along with the house number of this freshly opened relaxing place. Mediterranean restaurant, yoga studio, lifestyle shop with gourmet delicacies and a space for tailored events – all under one roof.

Vintage Garden

Featuring a shabby chic decor and lots of happy colors and inspirational messages, Vintage Garden is a trendy restaurant right in the heart of Budapest’s bustling party district. The often renewed interior decor provides a popular venue for hen nights, bachelorette parties, baby showers, and girly evenings and makes the restaurant for the perfect Instagram superstar.

Citadel and Gellért Hill

Gellért Hill with the Citadel on the top is one of Budapest’s biggest tourist attractions. It offers the most beautiful view of the city, especially at night, as the hill overlooks the Danube. Take the stairways from Gellért Square and move your body by hiking up to the top just for “the million dollar view”. Don’t be shy of being surrounded by thousands of tourists and take a breathtaking photo of Budapest when the sun goes down.

Leo Budapest

Buda’s first rooftop bar is a summer-only destination. This trendy rooftop has a panoramic view of St. Stephen’s Basilica, Parliament and Buda Castle and is backdropped by a Chain Bridge view of a never-before-seen angle. Ideally you should book a table even if you just want a drink, as this bar is really popular. According to the widespread urban legend, the iconic lion sculptures of Chain Bridge do not have tongues. From here you can find out. 🙂

New York Cafe

New York Café has lived through many eras, political systems and historical turning points and has been called the most beautiful one in the world. It is located in the luxurious New York Palace Hotel. It has preserved all the authentic decorations and its Belle Époque charm. So the moment you step inside you are blown away by its grandiose interior. You basically feel like royalty walking into a palace. But then you are brought right back down to earth, as you have to join a long line and wait to get seated!
